Explore the Future of Libraries and AI: Join the DIGITsmart free Workshop in the Aula Magna of the Malatestiana Library in Cesena
CESENA (FC) - From book pages to digital infrastructure: the impact of Artificial Intelligence on cultural and archival heritage is the focus of a workshop scheduled for Friday, Nov. 22 (9:30 a.m.-1 p.m.) in the Aula Magna of the Malatestiana Library in Cesena.
The concluding moment of the Interreg "Italy-Croatia project "DIGITsmart", which dealt with document digitization with a focus on digital technologies, the event is organized by DIGITsmart, Romagna Tech, Casa Bufalini, the Municipality of Cesena and Biblioteca Malatestiana, in collaboration with the Library Network of Romagna and San Marino and under the patronage of AIB (Italian Library Association Section Emilia-Romagna).
"Libraries and AI: Prospects and Opportunities" is the title of the workshop that offers a look at emerging technologies and, in particular, Artificial Intelligence employed in the library and publishing sector. The event opens at 9:30 a.m., with institutional greetings by Camillo Acerbi, City of Cesena Councillor for Culture, and Paolo Zanfini, Scientific Director of the Malatestiana Library. Sara Raggini of Romagna Tech will present the DIGITsmart project, followed by talks by experts in the field moderated by journalist Maurizio Marchesi.
Maurizio Vivarelli, from the University of Turin, will get to the heart of the workshop by illustrating the models, scenarios and perspectives of the relationship between libraries, reading and artificial intelligence; Chiara Storti, from the National Central Library of Florence, will instead present AI applications for accessing library holdings and the AI Lab of I.PaC., Infrastructure and Digital Services for Cultural Heritage.
Finally, illustrating the impact of Artificial Intelligence on publishing will be Andrea Angiolini, from the publishing house "Il Mulino."
Space for debate and questions from the audience at the conclusion of the meeting, with networking aperitif at 1 p.m. at the Malatestiana Café.
