PP6 RERA SD Pilot Area: Žrnovnica

The pilot area of Croatian partner Public Institution RERA S.D. for the Coordination and Development of Split-Dalmatia County within the Digital Plan project is Žrnovnica, a settlement located at the foot of Mt. Mosor and along the river of the same name, in the Split-Dalmatia County.
Characterised by its valuable natural environment, Žrnovnica is also exposed to specific climate-related risks. During the summer months, the area faces an increased risk of wildfires due to high temperatures and dry conditions, while its location along a watercourse creates vulnerability to flash floods during periods of intense rainfall.
These challenges make Žrnovnica an appropriate pilot area for introducing digital solutions that support improved monitoring of weather conditions, early identification of risks, and more effective emergency response.
Through the Digital Plan project, project partner RERA SD aims to strengthen the capacity of local stakeholders and emergency services by providing access to relevant data and innovative tools that contribute to better preparedness, increased resilience to extreme weather events, and safer risk management.
