Lead Partner Pilot Area – Municipalities of Montagano and Busso

The municipalities of Montagano and Busso are located in the Molise Region of southern Italy, an area characterized by hilly landscapes, agricultural land, and valuable natural ecosystems. Montagano is situated on a hillside in the heart of the region and is distinguished by its predominantly rural character and significant natural and environmental heritage. Busso is located in the inland part of the region, within a territory marked by agricultural areas, rolling hills, and well-preserved natural habitats.
Due to their geomorphological characteristics and strong dependence on natural resources, both municipalities face challenges associated with climate change, including increasingly frequent extreme weather events and growing environmental risks. Within the framework of the DIGITAL PLAN project, these pilot areas represent an important example of the application of digital technologies to strengthen environmental monitoring systems and risk management capacities.
As the pilot area of the Lead Partner, Montagano and Busso play a key role in demonstrating innovative approaches to climate risk monitoring and digital environmental management. Through the establishment of advanced systems for the collection and analysis of meteorological data, the municipalities will enhance their capacity for the early identification of potential hazards, the planning of preventive measures, and the coordination of activities among all relevant stakeholders involved in civil protection and emergency management.
Pilot activities contribute to the creation of safer and more resilient local communities while supporting the objectives of the DIGITAL PLAN project, which aims to promote the digital transformation of environmental and climate risk management.
