Zadar Fire Brigades Receive Two New Vehicles Through the Digital Plan Project
11/12/2025
Firefighting units across Zadar County have strengthened their operational capacities with two new vans acquired through the Digital Plan cross-border project, funded under the Interreg Italy–Croatia 2021–2027 programme. The procurement was carried out by the Agency for Rural Development of Zadar County (AGRRA) as a project partner.
One vehicle has been assigned to the Zadar Fire Department, while the other has been allocated to the Zadar County Firefighting Association. The total value of the investment amounts to €85,687.30, of which €20,000 was co-financed by the Zadar County Firefighting Association.
The handover agreement was signed by Ivica Pintur, Director of AGRRA; Željko Šoša, President of the Zadar County Firefighting Association; and Boris Jović, Commander of the Zadar Fire Department.
Commander Jović highlighted that the new vehicle will significantly improve the unit’s daily operations by enabling faster response times and providing logistical support for training, competitions, and various operational activities. President Šoša emphasized the importance of maintaining a modern and reliable fleet, particularly in a geographically large and diverse area such as Zadar County.
Digital Plan: Modernizing and Digitalizing Civil Protection Systems
The acquisition of the vehicles is only one component of the Digital Plan project, which is primarily focused on the digitalization of civil protection plans. The project aims to strengthen the capacity of local authorities to assess risks, define common operational procedures, and effectively share emergency planning with relevant institutions and the public.
By integrating innovative technologies, including Decision Support Systems (DSS) and IoT sensors, Digital Plan contributes to disaster risk reduction, faster decision-making, and greater efficiency during emergencies. The project also enhances cross-border cooperation between Croatian and Italian institutions, supporting the long-term resilience of communities.
The total budget of the Digital Plan project is €2.66 million, implemented through a partnership of Italian and Croatian institutions with the goal of improving civil protection systems through digital solutions and modernized infrastructure.
