On June 26, 2024, Metković held its 1st capacity-building session under the D.E.C. project, focusing on AI risks and ethics. Led by expert Aco Momčilović, the hybrid workshop engaged 40 participants in exploring data protection challenges.

The City of Metković hosted the first capacity-building session under the Digital Ethics Culture (D.E.C.) project, funded by the Interreg CBC Italy-Croatia 2021-2027 program. The workshop, conducted in a hybrid format, brought together approximately 40 participants aged 20-35 from various sectors to explore the pressing issues surrounding artificial intelligence (AI) risks and ethical considerations.

Led by Aco Momčilović, an external expert in the field of AI, the session aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the potential dangers and ethical dilemmas posed by AI technologies, particularly to data protection. Participants engaged in stimulating discussions on crucial topics, including the key risks associated with AI, different types of AI, and the ethical challenges that arise in the realm of data security.

The workshop lasted for 60 minutes and was conducted via Google Meet, allowing for a dynamic interaction, including a dedicated segment for questions and answers. This initiative not only enhanced participants' awareness of AI-related risks but also equipped them with practical tools to mitigate these challenges effectively.

The successful turnout and engagement at this session highlight the community's interest in navigating the complexities of AI, emphasizing the importance of ethical considerations in the digital age. As part of the D.E.C. project, such initiatives will continue to empower young people in Metković to become informed advocates for responsible technology use in their respective fields.
