Joint Training on Sustainable Mobility
12/02/2026
Sustainable mobility is a key driver of regional development, environmental protection, and improving the quality of life in urban areas. In this context, a Joint Training on Sustainable Mobility was organized with the aim of equipping participants with the necessary knowledge and skills for effective planning, implementation, and management of micromobility strategies. The Joint Training on Sustainable Mobility provides technical and operational knowledge to promote sustainable mobility and tourism, with an emphasis on the Adriatic-Ionian cycling route.
As part of this joint training, the Istria County organized a professional training focused on the planning and development of cycling infrastructure through regulations, standards, and practical application.
The training was structured into three interconnected thematic modules, and participation in all modules was required with registration. The first module took place in Trieste in person on January 28, 2026, the second module online on February 4, 2026, and the final module was held on February 11, 2026, at the Promo Hotel in Poreč. On first module, the topic was the general legislative framework, while on second module, there was an online discussion about the local implementation of cycle tourism.
The main focus was thus on the third module, the Joint Training on Sustainable Mobility.
Regional and European regulations and their practical application were presented, as well as construction standards and solutions for urban areas adapted for cyclists, green public procurement in the planning and construction of cycling paths, and examples of good and bad practices from real projects.
The aim of this training was to provide stakeholders with concrete knowledge for effective planning and development of high-quality and functional cycling infrastructure and mobility. This module represents the culmination of the educational cycle, offering an opportunity for networking and exchanging experiences in person with leading experts in the sustainable transport sector.
The training was intended for representatives of the public sector, tourism professionals, and transport specialists, and it gathered around 30 participants.
