From pilots action to policy: CRESPORT sets the course for shared cyber resilience across Adriatic Ports
30/07/2026
CRESPORT has reached a decisive milestone for the protection of critical infrastructure in the Adriatic. The field-testing phase coordinated by the Port of Ploče Authority (Work Package 2) has been successfully completed, and work on Work Package 3 has officially started under the Eastern Adriatic Sea Port System Authority (Ports of Trieste and Monfalcone), leading to a common cross-border security strategy and a joint protocol for all participating ports.
Pilot actions have delivered tangible results in all seven partner ports: targeted investments in hardware, software, and cloud-based solutions; coordinated transnational exercises, including simulated cyber-attacks and disaster recovery drills; and validation of countermeasures with refined procedures for rapid detection and restoration of critical systems.
The partnership is now focusing on long-term transborder governance. Key priorities include shared minimum requirements for digital tools and ship–port interaction, a common strategy aligned with the NIS2 Directive and the CER Regulation, and a Memorandum of Understanding to sustain cooperation and joint cyber resilience management beyond the project’s end.
As Lead Partner, the Central Adriatic Sea Port System Authority – Port of Ravenna, emphasises that CRESPORT is moving from tools to rules: translating pilot results into common procedures and a shared governance model to protect maritime traffic, economic development, and the security of the entire Adriatic community.
