CRESPORT in Amsterdam: advanced training as a driver of resilience
29/05/2026
The recent World Bank report “Cybersecurity in Ports: Shifting from Risk to Resilience" offers a valuable and up to date overview of the state of port cybersecurity worldwide. Based on an international survey involving more than 100 port sector stakeholders, expert interviews, and extensive desk research, the report highlights the growing importance of cyber resilience in maritime operations and provides concrete guidance for policymakers, port authorities, operators, and other stakeholders involved in protecting critical digital infrastructure.
Within this context, CRESPORT has achieved another positive result through the participation of Project Partner 5 (PP5) in an advanced cybersecurity training programme organised by SANS and Escal Institute of Advanced Technologies Inc. The one week in person course in Amsterdam brought together around 30 professionals from public institutions and private organisations, including representatives of the Dutch Cyber Security Centre and the Ministry of Defence of the Netherlands.
Its 46-hour programme focused on cybersecurity and the protection of digital infrastructure and covered topics such as network security and defensible architectures, Identity and Access Management (IAM), vulnerability assessment and management, penetration testing, system and endpoint hardening, cryptography and secure communications, incident detection and response, and cloud security.
Through a combination of theoretical sessions, hands-on exercises, and real-world case studies, participants were able to strengthen advanced technical skills and engage with professionals from a range of international backgrounds, encouraging an increasingly rich exchange.
By promoting high-level training opportunities and key international references such as the report mentioned above, CRESPORT reaffirms its commitment to professional growth, innovation, and the development of specialised skills in support of digital transformation and cyber resilience across the maritime and port sector. In particular, this also allows the project to see other outstanding results of this valuable partnership.
