Advancing green public procurement: Workshop in Mesagne highlighted sustainability and innovation

The workshop was inaugurated by Toni Matarrelli, Mayor of Mesagne, and led by Massimo Mauri, a seasoned expert in Green Public Procurement, providing a vision for sustainable procurement. Participants included local government officials, professionals, and stakeholders eager to integrate environmental and social considerations into public procurement processes.

- Environmental and social imperatives: Exploring the evolution of green procurement practices;
- European and National legislation: Addressing the new Italian Procurement Code, the DNSH (Do No Significant Harm) principle, and the latest National Action Plan;
- Green offerings and market research: Discussing certifications, databases, and best practices for integrating Minimum Environmental Criteria (CAM) into procurement procedures;
- Operational guidance: Hands-on sessions covered life-cycle assessment (LCA), life-cycle costing (LCC), and practical steps to align procurement documents with CAM standards.

The workshop featured a blend of theoretical and practical activities, including exercises on environmental certifications, life-cycle assessments, and creating tender documents that reflect sustainability goals.
