07/10/2024
On Saturday, October 5th, 2024, the Municipality of Pietracatella took part in the global "Let's Clean Up the World" initiative by hosting a significant workshop titled "From Waste to Energy". This event was organized to engage the local community and younger generations in understanding the value of trasnforming waste into energy and other sustainable resources.
The workshop saw enthisiastic participation from students of the Istituto Omnicomprensivo del Fortore Riccia-S. Elia, together with expert Marilena D'Aversa, who facilitated important discussions in the field of environmental sustainability. The students were guided through an exploration of waste managament practices, discovering innovative ways to repurpose waste materials into valuable resources that can fuel a greener future, reduce environmental impact and foster circular economy.
A key aspect of the event was the focus on educating younger generations, with the students' involvement proving crucial in raising awareness of waste management challenges. As these future custodians of the planet learned about sustainability, the workshop demonstrated how community initiatives like this can have long-lasting effects on environmental consciousness and local action.
Following the workshop, a community meeting was held, organized in partnership with the BeCome project "Energy Communities and Renewables - A meeting to Promote and Establish an Energy Community". The meeting, led by the Municipality of Pietracatella in collaboration with Legacoop Molise and the local branch of Legambiente, provided the community with valuable insights into the concept of energy communities. It showcased how renewable energy initiatives can be effectively implemented at the local level, empowering communities to take control of their energy resources and reduce dependence on traditional energy sources.
These events have shown that there is a growing sense of collective responsibility among residents thanks to projects like CO-MAY, and the Municipality is determined to continue building on this success.
