Consortium's first in-person meeting in Ferrara
19/06/2024
In a springtime to remember, between summer-like days, hailstorms, heavy rains and dropping temperatures, the CAMPUS consortium met for its first in-presence transnational meeting hosted by the Municipality of Ferrara, lead partner, on May 28th, 2024.
The workday started with a shared session between the two Interreg Italy-Croatia twinned projects CAMPUS and STRENGTH - STRategies for assessing climate change and natural hazards' impact on urban ecosystems, increasing resilience to ENvironmental hazards, and promoting territorial GrowTH, led by the University of Ferrara - aiming at identifying synergies and common methodologies to support each other towards reaching the goals of resilience and sustainability for, respectively, UNESCO sites and coastal areas.
The afternoon session, CAMPUS-specific, allowed the partners to further familiarise themselves with the administrative and financial matters and, above all, delved into the first activities of the work package 1 - Climate change scenarios of the UNESCO sites and risk assessment. This WP, led by the IUAV University, is a cornerstone of the CAMPUS project and will develop detailed climate change scenarios for the various UNESCO sites represented. The assessment will include evaluating the sites’s vulnerability, sensitivity, and resilience to climate change impacts. The objective is to create robust, science-based representations that can inform effective risk management and adaptation strategies.
Subsequently, participants embarked on a guided site visit to Ferrara’s city center, which provided the opportunity to understand the unique characteristics of the area and observe the measures and projects already tested at the local level to enhance resilience to climate change.
The shared knowledge and experiences from this meeting set a solid foundation for the project's future activities, driving forward the collective mission to enhance climate resilience and sustainability in UNESCO sites across Italy and Croatia.
Stay in the CAMPUS to know more about the progress of our work, and let’s meet again in Croatia in October!
