Cross-border research activity for baselines definition

To formally launch the project by strengthening cross-border cooperation, fostering team-building, and promoting knowledge exchange to support the implementation of Autonomous Surface Vehicles (ASVs) and enhance collaboration for the sustainable development of the Adriatic blue economy. These are the final outputs achieved:

  1. A multidisciplinary and cross-border research network established to support the implementation of Autonomous Surface Vehicles (ASVs) in the Adriatic Sea.
  2. Shared technical knowledge, expertise, and cooperation mechanisms developed among project partners, creating a common framework for future ASV-related research and innovation activities.
  3. Enhanced collaboration and networking among institutions from different regions, strengthening the project's capacity to address common challenges in marine environmental monitoring and the sustainable development of the blue economy.
  4. A foundation for the joint implementation of ASV technologies and related equipment, enabling future collaborative research and operational activities.

Develop jointly solutions: the autonomous monitoring boat

To jointly design, develop, and validate an Autonomous Surface Vehicle (ASV)-based monitoring solution aimed at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of marine environmental monitoring. The focus is on developing an innovative monitoring device, adopting a problem-based approach for assessing the health status of Sensitive Sea Habitats (SSMs), and facilitating the transfer of advanced technologies to support marine environment protection. These are the final outputs achieved:

  1. An Autonomous Surface Vehicle (ASV) prototype jointly developed as an innovative monitoring device to improve the efficiency and reliability of marine environmental monitoring activities.
  2. A problem-based methodology established for evaluating the health status of Sensitive Sea Habitats (SSMs), integrating advanced monitoring technologies and data collection capabilities.
  3. Active participation of SMEs in the design, development, and validation of the ASV prototype, fostering technology transfer, innovation, and the uptake of advanced monitoring solutions.
  4. A jointly developed technological solution ready to support marine environment protection through more efficient, scalable, and sustainable monitoring operations.

Knowledge for monitoring and to support the technology transfer

To generate scientific knowledge and monitoring data that support the validation of innovative technologies, strengthen cross-border cooperation, and facilitate the transfer of advanced solutions for the preservation and sustainable management of marine ecosystems. Scientific approaches and shared strategies are promoted to improve the understanding and protection of seagrass and seaweed meadows, with particular attention to the role of water quality. These are the final outputs achieved:

  1. Scientific knowledge and monitoring data jointly generated to support the validation and application of innovative technologies for marine environmental monitoring.
  2. A cross-border strategy jointly developed for the preservation of seagrass and seaweed meadows, highlighting the relationship between water quality and ecosystem health.
  3. Shared methodologies and monitoring approaches established among project partners, strengthening cooperation and promoting harmonized environmental assessment practices.
  4. Enhanced technology transfer through the integration of scientific evidence and monitoring results, supporting the sustainable management and long-term conservation of marine ecosystems.

To validate and promote the BRIGANTINE Autonomous Surface Vehicle (ASV) monitoring technology through real-world field applications, integration of monitoring data, stakeholder engagement activities, and policy-oriented actions supporting effective environmental management in the Adriatic Sea. The goal is to demonstrate the operational potential of autonomous monitoring solutions and foster their uptake among relevant actors for the sustainable management of marine ecosystems. These are the final outputs achieved:

  1. BRIGANTINE Autonomous Surface Vehicle (ASV) technology validated through field applications, demonstrating its effectiveness as an innovative solution for marine environmental monitoring.
  2. Integrated monitoring data generated and analysed to support evidence-based environmental management and decision-making processes.
  3. Stakeholder engagement activities carried out to promote knowledge exchange, cooperation, and the adoption of autonomous monitoring technologies among relevant institutions and users.
