WP1 - Unifying Knowledge for a Healthier Adriatic

WP1 - Unifying Knowledge for a Healthier Adriatic

This work package aims to help everyone understand our sea and lagoons better by bringing together different pieces of information.

We are building a shared digital platform so that researchers, local governments, and fishermen can all see the same data and work together to protect our environment.

Our goal is to make sure people know about the threats from invasive species and can take action to keep our waters thriving.

Building a Shared Foundation

Building a Shared Foundation

This phase focuses on bringing experts together and creating the digital tools needed for cross-border cooperation.

We established an expert group called the Adriatic Advisory Committee (AAC) to define shared rules for monitoring threats like pollution and invasive species, ensuring consistent standards across regions.

We are also reviewing existing information on climate change and biodiversity loss to identify knowledge gaps and share effective environmental practices.

Developing Shared Tools and Long-Term Solutions

Developing Shared Tools and Long-Term Solutions

We are developing a Smart Digital Platform that collects and shares environmental data in a user-friendly way, accessible across devices.

At the same time, we are preparing a long-term strategy and a formal agreement (MoU) to ensure that project results continue beyond the project lifetime.

Engaging the Community

Engaging the Community

We will launch Blue Labs and training sessions to support stakeholders in monitoring the sea and using digital tools effectively.

These activities aim to actively involve local communities and strengthen their role in protecting the Adriatic environment.

WP2: Tracking Change through Integrated Monitoring

WP2 - Tracking Change through Integrated Monitoring

This package focuses on using science and real-world testing to see how climate change and new species are affecting our sea.

We are running pilot projects at specific sites to test new ways of monitoring nature and reducing the impact of human activities.

By sharing what we find through reports and visits to these sites, we help local communities understand how to better manage their natural resources.

Monitoring Environmental Changes

Monitoring Environmental Changes

This phase focuses on using scientific methods and real-world testing to better understand how climate change and invasive species are affecting the Adriatic Sea.

We are implementing pilot actions at selected sites to test new approaches for monitoring marine ecosystems and assessing human impacts.

Strengthening Data and Knowledge Exchange

Strengthening Data and Knowledge Exchange

We are improving data collection and analysis methods to ensure more accurate and comparable environmental information across regions.

Pilot sites will serve as demonstration areas where stakeholders can observe, learn and exchange experiences on sustainable environmental management.

Supporting Sustainable Resource Management

Supporting Sustainable Resource Management

The results of monitoring and pilot actions will support better decision-making and help local communities manage natural resources more sustainably.

WP3 - Shared Solutions for Sustainable Management

WP3 - Shared Solutions for Sustainable Management

This work package creates practical, joint solutions to manage our coasts and protected areas while supporting the people who live and work there.

We focus on helping the fishing and aquaculture sectors become more resilient to environmental changes.

Through educational programs like a Summer School and public campaigns, we are encouraging everyone—especially young people—to take an active role in protecting our shared waters.

Supporting Coastal and Marine Management

Supporting Coastal and Marine Management

This phase focuses on developing practical, joint solutions to manage coastal and protected areas while balancing environmental protection and local economic needs.

We support cooperation between stakeholders to ensure sustainable use of marine resources.

Strengthening Fisheries and Aquaculture

Strengthening Fisheries and Aquaculture

We are helping the fishing and aquaculture sectors adapt to environmental changes and become more resilient through innovative practices and shared knowledge.

Education and Community Engagement

Education and Community Engagement

Through educational programs such as Summer Schools and public awareness campaigns, we encourage active participation in protecting the Adriatic environment.

Special focus is placed on engaging young people and local communities.
