Interviews with Italian and Croatian students participating in Blue education's training and culture days in Acquatina
10/06/2026
What happens when Italian and Croatian students join forces to protect the Adriatic Sea? Find out in the video interview from the "Blue education, training and culture" training days, held on 13 and 14 April in the beautiful setting of Acquatina di Frigole (Lecce), Pilot area 1.
What did our students say?
In the video, the students themselves share their experience, which was split between classroom theory and practical fieldwork: classroom lectures dedicated to marine governance, ecosystem services, and the ecological impact of invasive alien species, with a special focus on the blue crab; fieldwork and hands-on training!
The students put their skills to the test by deploying blue crab traps, using hydraulic probes for data collection, and taking genetic samples for environmental DNA (eDNA) analysis.
The initiative was hosted by DiSTeBA (University of Salento) and organised in synergy with the project partners Eduforma, Sea&Karst, Dubrovnik-Neretva County Nature Public Institution, and the Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries.
