Regional conference in Pula
15/04/2026
On 15 April 2026, at Coworking Pula, the Istrian Development Agency (IDA) organised a regional conference bringing together experts, institutions, and industry representatives to discuss the future of the blue economy and digital transformation within the Adriatic-Ionian region.
The event was dedicated to exploring how digital technologies and innovation can support the sustainable development of the blue economy, which encompasses a wide range of maritime and coastal activities, including shipbuilding and ship repair, fisheries and aquaculture, coastal tourism, blue biotechnology, marine renewable energy, and marine ecosystem services. A strong emphasis was placed on the importance of digitalisation and advanced technologies in strengthening competitiveness while ensuring environmental sustainability.
A key focus of the conference was the BEST 4.0 – Blue Economy Sectors Digital Transformation towards Industry 4.0 project, which aims to accelerate the digital transition of SMEs operating within the blue economy sector across the Adriatic-Ionian region.
Through cooperation between academia, industry, and the public sector, BEST 4.0 contributes to the development of innovative, data-driven, and sustainable business models that enhance resilience, foster innovation, and support the long-term growth of maritime-related industries.
