About section

About

The preservation of nature and biodiversity is vital for a sustainable environment in the program area, where waste production, especially plastic, poses significant ecological and socio-economic challenges. Coastal tourism contributes to this issue, with much waste ending up in the Adriatic Sea, necessitating a unified approach across borders.

To tackle this, the AWASTER project aims to shift from a linear economic model to a circular economy model (CE) by minimising waste generation through education and experience exchange in the Italy-Croatia coastal areas. Focusing on younger populations and the economic sector, the project will enhance knowledge of waste management and recycling, thereby protecting biodiversity.

Partners will develop an Action Plan and training scheme to promote sustainable resource use, featuring two Joint Pilot Actions: establishing EcoLabs where students create products from plastic waste and organising waste-free events to showcase innovative solutions. Results will be shared at a Final International Conference to ensure the project's sustainability and wider impact.
