A quiz night in Split made learning about the sea fun and easy

07/05/2025

Who has one of the longest careers as a nature documentary presenter? Which Croatian islands are known as the “islands of fire”? And how many times does Meri Cetinić sing the word more in her iconic song?

These were just some of the sea-themed questions that sparked laughter, debate, and plenty of “aha!” moments during our marine pub quiz, held on Monday, May 5 at Cool Garden Pub in Split, as part of the Interreg ASPEH campaign.

The event brought together ocean lovers, trivia fans, and curious minds in an evening full of fun, brain-teasing questions, and shared appreciation for the Adriatic. Far from a dry academic event, this quiz welcomed everyone – no biology degree required – with questions ranging from pop culture to ecology, all connected by a common thread: the sea.

The atmosphere was cozy and friendly. Teams were formed on the spot, strangers became teammates, and the sea proved once again to be a great unifier. In between questions and cheering, participants got to learn fascinating facts about the marine life, habitats, and heritage of the Adriatic coast.

And of course, the winning teams didn’t go home empty-handed. We awarded:

  • 4 snorkeling vouchers in Omiš (courtesy of Calypso Scuba Diving & Big Game Fishing)
  • 4 gift cards for diving and nautical gear (sponsored by Di-nautika)
  • 4 tickets to the magical Blue Cave on Biševo (offered by Nautički centar Komiža)

We’re grateful to everyone who joined us and contributed to a fantastic evening. These moments of shared learning and joy remind us that caring for the sea can be engaging, inclusive, and deeply rewarding.

Stay tuned for more ASPEH events  and until then, keep your love for the Adriatic alive, both in knowledge and in action. Because every species matters – and every habitat counts.
