Uncovering Masterclass Resources: Tools for Learning and Practice

Where Heritage Meets Digital Innovation

The ARCHAEODIGIT Masterclass was created to bridge the worlds of archaeology, culture, and technology. Developed under the Interreg Italy–Croatia Programme 2021–2027, it is part of the project ARCHAEODIGIT – ARCHAEOlogical DIGITal paths for an inclusive and sustainable tourism, which aims to make cultural heritage more accessible, inclusive, and sustainable.

At its heart, the Masterclass is a story of collaboration — connecting universities, technology partners, cultural institutions, and local communities in a shared mission to protect and reimagine heritage through digital innovation.

Learning to Shape the Future of Heritage

Led by the University of Pula (UNIPU), the Masterclass equipped participants with essential skills to implement the ARCHAEODIGIT methodology. It provided a comprehensive training journey covering:

• Digital marketing of cultural areas

• Holistic interpretation of cultural heritage

• Development of digital cultural pathways

• Integrated management strategies

• Storytelling and co-creation approaches

• Introduction to the ARCHAEODIGIT digital platform

Each topic was taught by experienced experts who combined academic insight with practical experience. Participants learned how to attract and engage visitors online, plan archaeological parks sustainably, and use digital storytelling to bring the past to life.

From Knowledge to Practice

The Masterclass materials, collected in Deliverable D.2.1.1, serve as a lasting resource for professionals working in heritage, tourism, and cultural innovation. They explore how tools like virtual and augmented reality, photogrammetry, digital twins, and gamification can transform the way we experience cultural sites.
Through these resources, participants discovered not only how to promote heritage online but how to create meaningful, interactive connections between people and place.

A Transnational Learning Experience

Beyond training, the Masterclass became a platform for exchange. It brought together participants from across Italy and Croatia to share perspectives, test ideas, and collaborate on future pilot actions. This spirit of cooperation reflects the broader vision of ARCHAEODIGIT — using shared cultural roots to build stronger, more innovative cross-border connections.

Empowering the Future of Cultural Tourism

The ARCHAEODIGIT Masterclass shows that preserving the past and embracing the future can go hand in hand. By merging traditional knowledge with digital creativity, it empowers local actors to tell their stories, strengthen community identity, and open new paths for sustainable cultural tourism across the Adriatic region.
