Kick-off meeting marks project start

18/02/2026

The kick-off meeting of the AltRoute – Alternative Tourism Paths project was held in person on 17th and 18th February 2026 in Saint Peter in the Forest, Croatia. The meeting lasted two days and took place at the First Croatian Sausage House in the Municipality of Saint Peter in the Forest. It brought together project partners from Croatia and Italy as part of the Interreg Italy–Croatia 2021–2027 Programme.

During the meeting, the partners — CIVIFORM, the Tourist Board of Jasenice County, the Municipality of San Leonardo, and the Municipality of Saint Peter in the Forest as the Lead Partner — presented their organisations and explained their roles in the project. They talked about how the project will be managed , about the project budget, how they will promote the project, and how they will follow and evaluate the results. They also set up the AltRoute Steering Committee.

The partners focused on planning the next activities. The project will develop new tourism routes based on traditional food and culture, support sustainable tourism in small Adriatic communities, and strengthen cooperation between Croatia and Italy. The programme also included a round table discussion about the upcoming activities.

This meeting officially started the 18-month project, which will run until 30 June 2027. The main goal is to support sustainable tourism and promote the Adriatic way of life through new tourism experiences created together with cross border cooperation.
