We are delighted to present the report “First operational versions of simulation models and forecasting tools”. We have developed advanced systems to predict environmental
conditions that favour the spread of non-native species (NIS). We did not start from scratch: this work builds on models developed in previous Interreg projects, such as AdriaClim and CASCADE, taking them to a new level of precision.
The models have been refined and validated using data collected during field pilot actions. The system processes forecasts every day, providing a continuous overview of marine dynamics.
Thanks to the work of project partners such as CMCC, ARPA Puglia, and ARPA FVG, we have tailored tools for sensitive areas such as the Gulf of Trieste and the Torre Guaceto Reserve.
Putting science at the service of institutions is the only way to manage our sea’s emergencies in a coordinated manner and protect the Blue Economy.
