The Adriatic PorTLand project showcased its results at various events, bringing together stakeholders, experts, and local communities to highlight the impact of its efforts. Through presentations, workshops, and discussions, the project shared its achievements in preserving maritime and river heritage, promoting sustainable tourism, and fostering social inclusion.

Interreg Italy-Croatia Conference

The project partner, Traditional Venetian Boats from Battaglia Terme, presented the Adriatic PorTLand project at the Interreg Italy-Croatia Small-Scale Project conference, which was held as part of the Venice Boat Show 2024. The conference, titled "Exploring Collaborative Initiatives and Sustainable Solutions across 2021–27 Interreg Italy–Croatia Small-Scale Projects," hosted 15 Small scale projects and 3 best practices examples gathered in three topics: Sustainability and Accessibility in Tourism and Cultural Heritage; Environment and Circular Economy; Youth, Governance and Cooperation.

18th Rovinj regatta

This year, the traditional boats of the 18th Rovinj regatta set sail in a celebratory, festive atmosphere from June 7 to 9. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Ecomuseum "Batana" and its commendable efforts in safeguarding the maritime heritage of Rovinj-Rovigno. The event was well-attended and included the attractive sailing ships "Nerezinac" and "Tartana", as well as a night boat procession with a traditional music concert. There were also workshops for children and a new gastronomic experience called "Viràda in pignàta" where participants could enjoy a culinary experience in addition to sailing.

Exhibition and Regatta of Traditional Sailing Boats

A variety of events took place in Mošćenička Draga last weekend, showcasing the fishing and maritime heritage of the area. The 16th exhibition and regatta of traditional sailing boats, known as "MALA BARKA - Štorija od mora," was the main attraction, accompanied by workshops on traditional maritime skills, rowing and sailing shows, as well as activities for children and visitors on traditional boats. The event also featured a fair of local products, traditional gastronomic offers, boat rides, exhibitions, concerts, and photo contests.

Partners of the Adriatic PorTLand project, Interreg Italy-Croatia, and local stakeholders actively participated in all activities.

FIUMARE 2024 Sea and Maritime Tradition Festival

The event, held on September 12 and 13, hosted by the Maritime and Historical Museum of the Croatian Littoral, brought together professionals, experts, and enthusiasts of maritime heritage from the region and beyond.

The first day of the conference showcased realized projects and examples of good practices in Kvarner and Istria, while the second day featured presentations from interpretation centers and associations dedicated to maritime heritage from Dalmatia.

The program also featured presentations of additional EU-funded projects, including Mala Barka, Mala Barka 2, Arca Adriatica, and AdriProm Tour, all of which were successfully implemented by Primorje-Gorski Kotar County.

International Forum on Intangible Cultural Heritage and Tourism

The 2024 World Forum for Intangible Cultural Heritage took place on October 17 and 18, 2024, at the Eolssumaru Performance Hall, part of the National Intangible Heritage Center in Jeonju, Republic of Korea. Hosted by the Korea Heritage Service, led by Administrator CHOI Eung-Chon, the event was organized by UNESCO-ICHCAP, under the leadership of Director-General KIM Jisung.

During the forum, Tamara Nikolić Đerić, PhD, senior curator and professional program manager of the House of Batana, the lead partner institution in the Adriatic PorTLand project, presented the project’s goals and activities. Her presentation highlighted the project’s efforts in preserving maritime and river intangible heritage, showcasing its impact on local communities and cultural preservation initiatives

The project partner, House of Batana, is an excellent example of community involvement in preserving cultural heritage and shaping local cultural offerings. Its efforts have been internationally recognised, including its inclusion in UNESCO's Register of Good Practices in 2016. In 2020, the institution was accredited by the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage. Tamara Nikolić Đerić, the professional programme manager of the Ecomuseum, was elected to the executive board of the Forum of UNESCO-accredited Associations in 2022 and served as deputy president throughout 2023.

One of Croatia's news portals, Morski.hr, has covered the recent international activities of "The House of Batana" Ecomuseum, including the Adriatic PortTLand project.
