The last Adriatic PorTLand maritime event in colorful Cesenatico

Canal in Cesenatico with traditonal boats

The next Exchange Lab & maritime event will take place soon in Cesenatico, Italy, a town known for its canal filled with traditional boats. Cesenatico takes great care in preserving its maritime heritage and it is a colorful place on the Emilia Romagna Riviera.

The event will be held from August 2-4, and will be hosted by the Municipality of Cesenatico and the Maritime Museum of Cesenatico. There will be a rich program of project activities, including a tour of the museum. The museum showcases ancient boats in all their splendor, featuring both the Land Section and the Floating Section, which consists of ten boats with colorful sails.

The Cesenatico Maritime Museum, founded in 1983 as a project from a conference in 1977, is one of the first museums dedicated to traditional seafaring and the maritime heritage of the small fishing ports of the Mediterranean. The museum was designed as an open place, intertwined with Cesenatico's maritime cultural landscape and historic center. This center, an ancient medieval Adriatic port, has always been dedicated to fishing and, since the late 19th century, to beach tourism.

The Exchange lab will bring a look into the maritime past of Cesenatico, as well as an interesting talk show under the title "How to communicate maritime heritage to different public and generations". The partners will get to know the gastronomic heritage of Cesenatico through a workshop where they will learn how to make the local specialty - piadina. They will also get a chance to observe the traditional greased pole competition. In the end, they will unite their traditional boats in a joint regatta. Finally, an extraordinary event will close this fantastic weekend - the Commemoration of Anita and Giuseppe Garibaldi's embarkation and procession at sea which takes place in Cesenatico at the beginning of August each year!
