About section

About

The AdriACTIVE project tackles the critical imbalance in Italian and Croatian tourism, where the sector's heavy reliance on major attractions actively fuels the negative effects of overtourism. This hinders sustainable development and leads to the persistent under-exploitation of valuable, lesser-known cultural and natural heritage. This situation ignores a growing demand for slow, proximity, and regenerative tourism experiences that better integrate with local communities.
The central objective is to establish a cross-border strategic tourist product, specifically designed to enhance sustainable active tourism and promote shared cultural and natural heritage. This strategy aims to reduce tourism's negative impacts by fostering territorial collaboration and empowering local communities. The ultimate aim is to significantly boost experience-based tourism, anchoring its success in the well-being of residents as the key measure of long-term sustainability.
To achieve this, the project focuses on defining and promoting attractive cultural itineraries and routes and establishing a cross-border hub to encourage "slow fruition" of the territories. Concrete actions include empowering the skills of tourism operators, testing innovative digital solutions, and enhancing cultural places as multidisciplinary hubs, ensuring a diversified and socially sustainable tourism offer.
