AdriACTIVE partners meet online to review progress and prepare the next implementation phase

On 30 June 2026, the AdriACTIVE partnership met online for its second Partnership and Steering Committee meeting, bringing together partners from Italy and Croatia to review progress and prepare the next steps of their shared journey.
The meeting offered an opportunity to exchange ideas, connect experiences from the different project territories and strengthen cooperation towards a common goal: developing more sustainable, active and experience-based tourism across the Adriatic area.
From local identities to a shared Adriatic experience
A major focus of the meeting was the future AdriACTIVE cross-border tourism itinerary. The itinerary will connect cultural and natural heritage, local traditions, outdoor experiences and lesser-known destinations in Italy and Croatia.
Rather than simply bringing together individual local initiatives, AdriACTIVE aims to create a coherent cross-border experience reflecting both the shared identity and the rich diversity of the Adriatic territories. Particular attention will be given to inland destinations and to stronger connections between coastal and rural areas.
Listening to territories
Partners also shared the first insights from the stakeholder mapping and needs analysis conducted across the pilot areas.
Local authorities, tourism operators, businesses, associations, experts, young people and communities are contributing their perspectives on tourism opportunities, local challenges and visitor needs. Their involvement is essential to ensure that the project’s future activities are rooted in the territories and respond to real expectations.
The initial findings highlight a strong potential for flexible tourism experiences combining nature, culture, gastronomy, local stories and outdoor activities. At the same time, they point to common challenges such as accessibility, transport connections, tourism services and the visibility of lesser-known destinations.
Turning ideas into action
The partnership also reviewed the progress of the pilot actions, investments and digital solutions being developed throughout the project area. These initiatives will enhance tourism hubs, cultural and natural trails and innovative visitor experiences while supporting a more balanced distribution of tourism flows.
In the coming months, partners will continue working with local stakeholders, developing the cross-border itinerary and preparing opportunities for tourism operators and communities to exchange experiences and contribute to the project.
The next in-person project meeting and study visit are expected to take place in the Rimini pilot area in October 2026, marking another important step in the AdriACTIVE journey.
