Design and development of the hybrid engine

Design and development of the hybrid engine

WP1 focuses on the technical development of the hybrid solution intended for fishing vessels up to 12 metres in length. This phase defines the system’s main features, with particular attention to the integration of traditional propulsion and electric components, the reduction of fuel consumption and the decrease of carbon emissions.

Design and engineering of E-powered propulsion systems for SSF-AQ vessel services

Design and engineering of E-powered propulsion systems for SSF-AQ vessel services

The deliverable analyzes the main innovative alternatives to traditional diesel propulsion, assessing hybrid, electric, fuel cell and alternative fuel solutions against the operational needs of the Cromaris and IOF vessels. It aims to identify the most efficient, sustainable and suitable configuration, define the related Bill of Materials, and outline a preliminary onboard integration plan considering installation, weight distribution and compatibility with existing structures.

Operational testing and assessment

Operational testing and assessment

WP2 involves installing the hybrid systems on two selected vessels and testing them under real fishing conditions. These activities are aimed at assessing the effectiveness, reliability and operational performance of the technology, while collecting data on energy efficiency, overall performance and the adaptability of the solution to the needs of small-scale fisheries and aquaculture.

Report on need analysis and feasibility plan of installing E-powered solutions on SSF-AQ fleet

Report on need analysis and feasibility plan of installing E-powered solutions on SSF-AQ fleet

The report assesses the feasibility of hybrid diesel-battery systems for Small-Scale Coastal Fisheries vessels in GSA17, focusing on their potential to reduce GHG emissions, improve energy efficiency and support decarbonization goals. It presents a high-level evaluation based on vessel energy demand profiles and FDI data, cross-validated with the GFCM Regional Fleet Register, highlighting strong data coverage for Croatia and the need for further refinement for Italy.
