D.2.4.2 High level final conference in Venice: Accessible tourism – a democratic right of all

The final conference of the Tourism4All project, implemented as a part of the Italy-Croatia Interreg Programme, was held on 25th November 2021 on the island of San Servolo, Venice. The conference was organized by Veneto Region Tourism Department and was participated, in presence and online, by over 60 representatives of the partner and stakeholder institutions.

Main themes of the event were: the vision and European strategies on sustainable tourism in Europe, Eusair Strategy and accessible tourism, ENAT vision, tourism and cultural assets in the next Programme Interreg Italy-Croatia and accessible tourism in European Regions.

During the Conference, results of T4A project and improvements of accessibility in the target areas were presented by the Lead Partner, Molise Region.

Among others, Italian minister for Disabilities Erika Stefani and the President of Greece Tourism Board Angela Gerekou were present at the conference, giving their support to the establishment of the accessible tourism in Italy and Croatia, as well as other EU countries. “Accessible tourism is a right of our fellow citizens, an obligation of the official authorities and a smart business with a moral sign”, said Ms. Gerekou, adding that accessible tourism is not a tourist product, but a democratic right that will allow all people who ae marginalized and socially isolated to live on equal terms with the rest of the society.
