Last Thursday the four Croatian partners (Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries, Blue World of Marine Research and Conservation, Ministry of Environment and Energy, Teaching Institute of Public Health Primorje-Gorski Kotar County) and the four Italian partners (National Research Council, Environmental Protection Agency of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Cetacea Foundation, Marche Region) had a meeting discussing about SonoVault hydrophone software setting and calibration tests and the in water test. The official green light by the Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries in Split (lead partner of the project and coordinator of this specific action) for the hydrophones deployment will take place in the middle of February.

The project, which involves partners along the two coasts of the northern Adriatic sea, foresees 3 different moments: the first moment, in which anthropogenic underwater noises will be recorded for almost a year through hydrophones (positioned one offshore Ancora, one offshore Rimini and one offshore Venezia, one in the gulf of Trieste, and 4 along the Croatian coast); a second moment in which partners will investigate the effects of these noises on marine animals (in particular on the two "target species" turtles and dolphins); the last one in which partners will study mitigation measures against underwater noise pollution: The final results will be presented at European level.
