Thematic seminar on coastal salinization issues and adaptation state of the art

As a part of project SeCure, thematic seminar on coastal salinization issues and adaptation state of the art is organized on EGU 2023. The EGU General Assembly 2023 brings together geoscientists from all over the world to one meeting covering all disciplines of the Earth, planetary, and space sciences. It will be held between 23 and 28 of April 2023 in Wien, Austria and online.

Name of the session is “Integrating understanding across the land-ocean continuum: multidisciplinary approaches to studying saltwater intrusion and submarine groundwater discharge”.

This session aims to bring together multiple disciplines and perspectives on coastal aquifers. A better understanding of sea water intrusion and submarine groundwater discharge from hydrogeologic and oceanographic perspective can help improve management of coastal groundwater and ecosystems and assess its current and future global importance.

The session will consist of 36 oral presentations, 25 poster presentation and 3 solicited speakers, Alicia Wilson (University of South Carolina, School of the Earth, Ocean & Environment, United States of America), JIUJIU Jiao (Department of Earth Sciences, The University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, China) and Gualbert Oude Essink (Deltares, Unit Subsurface and Groundwater Systems, the Netherlands).

We are looking forward to it!
