On 10 November, the partner Cà Foscari University organized a study visit at the port of Cesenatico (FC) to present the fishing for litter actions developed by the ML-REPARI project. The Interreg ML-REPAIR project, which began in January 2018 and ended in June 2019, was developed and coordinated by the Department of Cultural Heritage of the Ca' Foscari University of Venice. It is a continuation of the DeFishGear fishing gear management system project in the Adriatic region. The aim was to create a concept of personal responsibility for the marine litter problem among all target groups (children and young people, local community, fishermen, public administration bodies, FLAGs and LAGs), spreading the adoption of good practices. One of the most important actions of the ML-REPAIR project was the Fishing For Litter (FFL), the collection of marine litter by fishing vessels during their normal daily fishing activity. The navy and fishermen of Cesenatico, involved by the M.A.R.E. of Cattolica, participated in the project activities with great involvement and dedication, employing 7 boats and collecting 3500 kg of waste. This important experience was presented to the partners of the Interreg RESISTANCE project by Professor Giulio Pojana (project manager), Andrea Gugnali (Biologist of the M.A.R.E Cooperative) and Francesca Barbieri (Cà Foscari University) together with the fishermen themselves, the real protagonists of this activity.
