CLEANING THE SEA OF WASTE - The Clean Sea LIFE project

Published on 28/01/2021 (last modified 24/02/2021)

START DATE

Jan 29, 2021 h.

The integrity and functionality of the seas, in Italy as in the rest of the world, are seriously endangered by a threat that grows day by day: waste.

The Clean Sea Life project, which began in 2016 and ended in 2021, countered the accumulation of marine litter along the Italian coasts through awareness-raising actions, the promotion of the active engagement of citizens and in schools, and the dissemination of good practices in the waste management. The project sees the Asinara National Park as leader and CoNISMa, Fondazione Cetacea, MedSharks, Centro Velico Caprera and Legambiente as beneficiary partners.

We collaborated with the scientific magazine Radar Magazine to create this final event and a webdoc, which will be presented on Friday, to tell a fundamental part of the project: the Fishing for Litter, that is, the fishing of waste with professional fishermen. An activity in which Rimini has played a key role and which can represent an important solution to the serious problem of waste at sea.

Friday 29 January at 6 pm do not miss the online event organized by Radar Magazine and Fondazione Cetacea to celebrate the closing of the Clean Sea Life project and get to know all the details. Live on facebook pages @radarzine @fondazionecetacea

They will be present:
- the vice president of the Emilia Romagna Region Elly Schlein;
- the Councilor for the Environment of the Municipality of Rimini Anna Montini;
- the coordinator of the project Simona Clò;
- the president of Fondazione Cetacea ONLUS Sauro Pari;
- the commander of the motor trawler Levriero II of Rimini Tomas Parenti.
Moderated by Francesco Martinelli of Radar Magazine.
