On February 6th 2020, a Regional event of the European project  "MADE IN-LAND: MAnagement and DEvelopment of INLANDs'' was held at the Educational Gastronomic Center of Istria on Gortanov brijeg near Pazin in organization of AZRRI - Agency for Rural Development of Istria Ltd. Pazin.

The project plans to develop a common cross-border area strategy that would identify the possibility of linking the coast and the inland of Istria, in a way to complement the tourism offer of the inland, which will include unvalorized natural and cultural heritage and gastronomy. During the event, family farms and local producers, who will be included in the tourism itinerary, presented their autochtonous Istrian products that all visitors had the opportunity to taste.

The aim of the Regional Event was to bring together relevant stakeholders who, through a participatory approach, tried to come up with the idea of how to increase the attractiveness of rural areas of the inland area of Istria, and put this concept into reality.

The participants of the Regional event were representatives of the regional and local self-government, the Istrian cities - Pazin, Buzet and Vodnjan, the municipalities - Žminj and Svetvinčenat, representatives of local tourist boards, and other stakeholders from the public and private sectors.

All participants agreed that there is a great opportunity to increase the potential of the destination through strengthening the synergy of private and public sector actors, and believe that this will also be the key to the success of this project.

The European project MADE IN-LAND, with a total budget of EUR 2,218,069.31, of which EUR 267,829.30 for AZRRI, was financed under the Interreg V-A Italy-Croatia Cross-border Cooperation Program 2014-2020. Agency for Rural Development of Istria d.o.o. Pazin is a partner on the MADE IN-LAND project, and participate in project  with 8 partners from Croatia and Italy.

The project aim is protecting and valorizing the untapped natural and cultural potential of the inland areas of the partner regions, Italy and Croatia.

The pilot activity that AZRRI will be engaged during project implementation is a development and implementation of a Brand that will promote the tangible and intangible natural and cultural heritage of the inland. The event ended by tasting of Istrian cattle - Boškarin dishes, using traditional Istrian products, prepared by Chef Robert Perić for the occasion.
