Successful capacity building webinar on joint action plans!

Covenant of Mayors webinar on JOINT_SECAPs was held online on 25th of June

The capacity building webinar organized by the Covenant of Mayors Office of the European Commission with the Abruzzo Region on 25/06/2020 on the role of the Regions in the implementation of the Joint Action Plans has ended.


At the invitation of the Covenant of Mayors, the Abruzzo Region, in order to transfer its best practices and tools useful for the drafting of action plans for sustainable energy and climate (SECAP) to the Italian regions and municipalities, illustrated the participatory process implemented in the new 2021-2027 programming and the ongoing experience of the JOINT_SECAP (Joint Strategies for Climate Change Adaptation in coastal areas) project in which the Region and the municipalities of Abruzzo are realizing the joint action plans according to the district logic for homogeneous climatic areas.


The event has been opened by the President of the Region, Mr. Marco Marsilio, followed by the Regional Ministry for Energy, Mr. Nicola Campitelli, the Director of the Department of Presidency, Ms. Emanuela Grimaldi and the Manager of the Service of Energy, Ms. Iris Flacco, who is the coordinator of the Joint_Secap project for Abruzzo Region. Ms. Chiara Barchiesi, communication manager of the project for Abruzzo, has highlighted the main features of the pilot areas identified stressing the challenging for municipalities, especially the smallest ones, in making joint secaps, followed by Ms. Rosalba D’Onofrio, Joint_Secap coordinator, who has highlighted the main ongoing activities and Mr. Danilo Di Pietro from Agena who has described the outcomes of the risks and vulnerabilities assessment, focusing opportunities, challenges and difficulties in making the report and what’s on as regards as the definition of the climate scenarios. The deputy mayor of the municipality of Penne, Mr. Vincenzo Ferrante, the councillor for Environment and Europe of the municipality of Silvi, Mr. Alessandro Valleriani and the deputy mayor of the municipality of Pescara, Mr. Giovanni Santilli, being the three municipalities pilot areas of the Joint_secap projects, have explained why they have decided to make a Joint Action Plan for Climate and Energy highlighting the advantages, opportunities and challenges they set themselves. 
The webinar has been attended by an average of 94 representatives of Italian municipalities and regions including speakers.
