Nautical accessibility and nautical safety are key issues in the maritime field. In order to improve both, it is necessary to rely on the experience of strategic players and new technologies, with practice and training sessions.
This is why the pilot actions of the INTESA project also foresee agreements with key actors in the field of navigation, as well as training for the use of the innovative technological equipment.
In the frame of the INTESA Project Pilot Action of the Central Adriatic Sea Port Authority a specific agreement with “Istituto Superiore Volterra – Elia” was delivered in order to engage the community students and industry stakeholders.
Indeed Istituto Superiore Volterra – Elia is a technical education institution, key education provider in Marche region on nautical and navigation topics. The activities implemented in the INTESA Pilot are related to the upgrade of software simulator for training to pilot activities in bad weather conditions and piloting of big ships in restricted waters, also including the modelling of the last generation of cargo and passenger ships.
The naval simulator is a technological tool used by the students of the Nautical course of study in Transport and Logistics and several times by the authorities of the Doric port to study new safe dockings.

The demonstration event of the updated naval simulator provided to the Istituto Superiore Volterra – Elia will be held as part of the Italian Port Days, on 22nd September 2021 in Ancona. It will be the local Stakeholder Workshop of the INTESA project, to which authorities and all key stakeholders are invited.
Italian Port Days - Opening port life and culture to people, is the initiative launched jointly by the Port System Authorities and coordinated by Assoporti to bring citizens closer to port life and culture. The 2021 edition will last one month and started on 10th September. Events, webinars, exhibitions and much more will be held in the various ports to raise awareness of port activities among the people living nearby.
