In the framework of the ICARUS project the region Friuli Venezia Giulia will install twenty wheeling ramps in nine railway stations in the region Friuli Venezia Giulia, starting from Udine where the ramps have been completed in these days. On Monday 19th October 2020 at 10:30 the ramps will be officially presented to the public at the Udine railway station in the presence of Mr. Graziano Pizzimenti, regional Councilor for Infrastructure and Territory, Mr. Pietro Fontanini, the Mayor of Udine and RFI (Italian Railway Network) representatives.
By the end of the year the wheeling ramps will be installed in the remaining stations of Ugovizza Valbruna, Pontebba, Carnia, Venzone, Gemona, Artegna, Tarcento and Tricesimo. In this way, cyclists riding along the cycle path Alpe Adria and traveling by train will be able to load their bikes on the train, accessing the platform more easily by simply sliding their bikes on the wheeling ramps.
The final objective is to increase the attractiveness of the Alpe Adria cycle path in the region Friuli Venezia Giulia and incentive tourists and passengers to travel in a more sustainable way.
