ICARUS 2nd Webinar “"Mobility under uncertainty: trends and scenarios in a (post) COVID-19 time" was held on May 26th, 2020. The webinar aimed at defining ways to shift towards more sustainable mobility, taking into consideration also the new conditions due to the COVID-19 emergency. The webinar was held by prof. Patrick Rerat, from the University of Lausanne, who outlined spatial organization in relation to the mobility patterns, considering several challenges that influence sustainable transport and mobility (urban changes, ecological transition, socio-demographic changes, technological changes due to major digitalization and governance issues). Mr. Rerat analysed several trends and ways to achieve sustainable mobility in each of this tendencies: decarbonisation (more efficient transport means i.e. e-cars, e-bikes, walking, focus on proximity rather than on speed or distance); integrated mobility (Mobility as a service, car/bike sharing, intermodality); planning a post-car world (infrastructures for walking, cycling and public transport, car restrictions, reduction of parking spots, increase accessibility) and slow tourism (software measures to change citizen’s behavior and habits).
