New equipment strengthens Civil Protection capacity in Aquileia
18/02/2026
The Municipality di Aquileia has enhanced its emergency response capacity through the purchse of new specialised equipment within the framework of the HANDY Project.
The newly acquired equipment will support the activities of the local Civil Protection service in managing emergencies and responding to natural risks.
It includes a truck equipped with a mechanical crane and clamp, designed to facilitate the rapid transport and deployment of materials during emergency operations. In addition, modular anti-flooding barriers and mobile lighting towers have been procured to improve operational efficiency in situations related to hydrogeological risks and flooding.
These new tools will allow Civil Protection operators to intervene more quickly, safely, and effectively during emergency situations, strengthening the overall preparedness of the local response system.
To ensure the effective use of the equipment, a dedicated capacity-building and testing activity will take place on 10–11 March 2026 in Aquileia, providing Civil Protection personnel with practical training and hands-on experience in operating the newly acquired resources.
This investment represents an important step toward improving local preparedness and resilience, contributing to the protection of communities, infrastructure, and the environment. At the same time, it supports the broader objectives of the HANDY Project, which aims to enhance prevention, preparedness, and response capacities for natural hazards across the Adriatic region.
