Cross-border civil protection conference in Split to discuss standardization of mutual cooperation in case of extreme events
On 19 March 2026, Split-Dalmatia County will host a cross-border event with representatives of institutions, civil protection authorities, and experts from Italy and Croatia involved in strengthening mutual cooperation and coordination in the management of extreme events.
The event will take place at Hotel Le Méridien Lav in Split and will be organised as part of the conference “Civil Protection and Urban Security.”
The programme will focus on the analysis of the capacity-building activities carried out within the HANDY project, while also opening a broader discussion on the development of wildfire risk management strategies within a multi-risk civil protection framework.
During the panel session, participants will exchange experiences and perspectives on education and training for wildfire risk management, highlighting the challenges and lessons learned from both countries. The discussion will provide an opportunity to reflect on how cross-border cooperation and shared knowledge can contribute to more effective preparedness and response to natural hazards affecting the Adriatic region.
The event will conclude with a networking session and informal exchange among participants, encouraging dialogue between decision makers, experts, and operational actors involved in civil protection.
