A unique knowledge-sharing experience aboard the “Battello Santa Maria” in the Aquileia–Grado Lagoon for HANDY

On 28 September 2025, the Municipality of Aquileia, partner of the HANDY project, presented its training results and main activities carried out during the past months. The initiative took place on board a river boat “Battello Santa Maria” in the Aquileia-Grado lagoon, creating a unique atmosphere for sharing knowledge. Over 40 participants took part in the initiative, including the Mayor, Mr. Emanuele Zorino, the Deputy Mayor, Mr. Isaac Zampieri, and other members of the municipal administration, as well as numerous citizens.
Particular emphasis was placed on the protection of the community, the safeguard of cultural heritage and UNESCO sites, as well as the presentation of the Catalogue of the main innovative solutions developed within the project, with a particular description of the Climate Projections Platform for the North-East (PPCNE), the Weather Risk, Next to You applications, and the Real-time Hydraulic Monitoring System for rivers and canals. The event also showcased the specialised training courses held in Aquileia, along with images, suggestions of videos and multimedia materials. Finally, a brief update was also provided on the progress of equipment supplies for the Municipality of Aquileia, further illustrating the project’s ongoing activities.
This session represented a great opportunity to raise awareness among the community on themes of prevention and local resilience, demonstrating a strong public interest and active participation. It clearly highlighted the event’s ability to communicate the results of the HANDY project in an engaging way, while representing a concrete step toward strengthening local capacity and preparedness.
