Strengthening Civil Protection in Dubrovnik-Neretva Region with New Specialized Equipment
05/09/2025
As part of the ongoing activities of the HANDY project, the partner Dubrovnik-Neretva Region has taken an important step forward in enhancing its civil protection capacity. They have recently acquired a set of specialized equipment aimed at ensuring that local civil protection teams are better prepared to respond quickly, efficiently, and safely to different types of emergencies.
The new procured equipment includes:
- Tripods & Hydraulic Props - enabling safe rescues in hard-to-reach areas and collapsed structures;
- Aggregates - providing reliable electricity for rapid intervention operations;
- Vibrascope & Life Detection Device with Bioradar - designed to locate and save lives even under the most challenging conditions;
- Tents - to serve as mobile command, health, and distribution centers during emergencies;
- Personal Protective Gear - specifically intended for fire departments operating on the islands, ensuring safety during critical interventions.
A boost to community resilience
These upgrades significantly enhance the operational capacity of civil protection teams while also reinforcing the resilience of the community as a whole. With modern tools and equipment at their disposal, first responders in the Dubrovnik-Neretva Region are better prepared to act quickly and safely when emergencies occur.
Next steps: Training and cross-border cooperation
To maximize the impact of these investments, the Region will organize cross-border capacity-building sessions and hands-on exercises in the coming months! These activities will enable teams to train with the new equipment and ensure they are fully prepared to respond effectively when every second counts.
