Marine hazards, ARPA FVG acquired new data

Published on 07/07/2021 (last modified 27/05/2022)

Focus on Gulf of Trieste and the Marano-Grado lagoon

In the INTERREG IT-HR FIRESPILL project, ARPA FVG has acquired new environmental data, namely the Mediterranean Sea currents reanalysis, provided by the Copernicus Marine Environment Monitoring Service (CMEMS) for the period from October 2018 to November 2019.
CMEMS currents and winds data simulated by ARPA FVG implementation of Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model have been prepared as inputs for the pyGNOME Oil Spill modeling tool.
In the context of the pilot action "Oil spills and other marine hazards" the risk of pollution due to Oil Spill will be assessed through the application of pyGNOME in the ARPA FVG pilot area, namely the Gulf of Trieste and the Marano-Grado lagoon.
