ITALIA and CROAZIA share a model for tracking the movement of the oil slick

Civil Protection Department of Puglia Region organized the meeting to plan prevention models from oil spills and other marine hazards in the Adriatic Sea

In the frame of the FIRESPILL Project, the Civil Protection Department of Puglia Region organized, as Partner coordinator of Task Force 2, the 2nd technical meeting held on 8th October for the implementation of the Activity “OIL SPILLS AND OTHER MARINE HAZARDS PILOTS DEPLOYMENT”. The meeting was attended by the project partners involved in this activity, in detail Abruzzo Region, Adriatic Training and Research Centre for Accidental Marine Pollution Preparedness and Response – ATRAC, Environmental Protection Agency of Friuli Venezia Giulia and Region of Istria. The main topics of the meeting were the following:
- to present the draft of the methodology for risk assessment for oil spills in the Adriatic Sea;
- to share the model for the oil spill scenarios using oil spill trajectory models for tracking the movement of the oil slick, and oil spill dispersion model for predicting possible impacts to the environment are foreseen;
- to plane the specialized exercises and simulations for coast guards and civil protection units, with at least one exercise having a CBC dimension.
