Earthquakes shaking Croatia as the most important topic of the international conference "Disaster Management" to be held on October 21 and 22 in Split

"Disaster Management" is the name of a two-day international hybrid conference to be held in Split on October 21st and 22nd as part of the cross-border FireSpill project, bringing together representatives of regional and local authorities, development agencies, the scientific community, institutions and rescue services involved in resolving crisis situations from Croatia and Italy.
The most prominent topic of this conference will be earthquakes as one of the most current recent crises in both countries, especially in Croatia after the earthquakes in Zagreb and Banija. These events opened a series of expert discussions and questions about seismic areas in Croatia, the possibilities of forecasting and ways of preventive protection from earthquakes to managing the crisis caused by its devastating consequences.
The conference is organized by the Split-Dalmatia County, the Administrative Department for Croatian Veterans, Civil Protection and Human Rights and Public institution RERA S.D. for coordination and development of Split - Dalmatia County, as part of the FireSpill project funded by the EU cross-border cooperation program INTERREG Italy - Croatia. 
The FireSpill project, which brings together 16 project partners from Italy and Croatia, aims to increase the capacity of emergency services to improve cross-border efficiency in dealing with natural and man-made disasters, reducing population exposure and increasing the safety of the Croatian and Italian Adriatic basins by improving measures. and emergency prevention and management instruments. The estimated budget of the FireSpill project is 120 million kuna, of which about 65 million kuna refers to activities in the Split-Dalmatia County within which the largest training center for firefighters in this part of Europe will be built - Regional Teaching Center for training operational forces.
