ECOSS PROJECT - KICK OFF MEETING

The Kick-off meeting of the ECOSS project will be held in Venice, at the CNR-ISMAR premises (Tesa 104 – Arsenale, Castello 2737/F) from 12th to 14th March 2019.

The ECOSS - ECOlogical observing System in the Adriatic Sea: oceanographic observations for biodiversity - project was approved in the framework of the 1st Call for Standard projects and started on 1st January 2019.

The overall objective of ECOSS is the establishment of the ECOlogical observing system in the Adriatic Sea (ECOAdS), shared between Italy and Croatia, able to integrate ecological and oceanographic research and monitoring with Natura 2000 conservation strategies.

Building on the facilities, infrastructures and long term ecological data existing in the Programme area, and developing specific case studies, ECOSS will enhance the marine observational capacities for improving the conservation status and the expansion of the marine component of Natura 2000 network.

During the project kick off meeting, participants will discuss the main project goals, and elaborate on the planned project activities (case studies, meetings, workshops, etc.) through specific working groups. The Advisory Committee of the ECOSS project will be also appointed.
