ECOMAP Final Conference

The Final Conference of the ECOMAP project has been held on the 8th of June, 2022, in Podstrana at the Hotel San Antonio, starting at 09.00 hours, organized by Lead Partner, Municipality of Podstrana.

The Final Conference of the ECOMAP project has been held on the 8th of June, 2022, in Podstrana at the Hotel San Antonio, starting at 09.00 hours, organized by Lead Partner, Municipality of Podstrana.

The Conference started with the greetings of the: Project Coordinator, Ms. Andrijana Dedić, followed by Mr. Mijo Dropuljić, the Mayor of the Municipality of Podstrana,  Ms. Ivana Živković, the representative of the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds, Mr. Michele Polenta, Council Member for the Environment, of the Municipality of Ancona and Ms. Marinka Kutle, the Nacional Coordinator of the Blue Flag from the association Lijepa Naša. Mr. Marin Miletic, the Project Manager of Interreg V A Italy – Croatia, Joint Secretariat, presented the new Interreg Italy - Croatia Program.

The second part of the Conference was focused on presenting the results of the project that contribute to the protection and improvement of the quality of the sea and the marine environment of the marinas and ports involved in the project.

The Final Conference gathering included very important pilot site visits the day before.

On Tuesday, June the 7th, 2022, the project partners visited the project implementation area, two marinas, where they visited wastewater facilities, the infrastructure investments within the ECOMAP project,  and attended to the realization of one of the project's goals - raising the Blue Flag at three locations: the port of Špinut and the port and beach of Strožanac. Mr. Stipe Čogelja, Deputy Mayor of Split Dalmacija County, participated in the ceremony of the blue flag rising in Špinut and congratulated the Ecomap project team on such excellent work. Mrs. Tea Ivanišević, Programm Communication Manager of the Interreg V A Italy – Croatia, Joint Secretariat, has also joined the event and visited the pilot sites. The Blue Flag is an internationally esteemed tourist label that many tourists take as the main criterion when choosing their holiday destination. It points to clean, tidy, safe, and well-maintained beaches and marinas. It is the most recognized model of environmental education and public information and unites the tourism and environmental sectors at the local, regional and national levels.
