CROSSCONNECT presents its Strategic Roadmap and signs the Memorandum of Understanding at the Adriatic Sea Forum

The Adriatic Sea Forum in Venice represented an important opportunity for the CROSSCONNECT project to present its main achievements and bring together project partners and key stakeholders to discuss how technology, sustainable mobility and cross-border cooperation can improve connections between ports, airports and urban areas across the Adriatic.
Starting with the presentation of the pilot actions and continuing with an overview of the activities carried out so far within the project under the Interreg Italy–Croatia Programme, the partners not only demonstrated their strong commitment to the project’s objective of creating more efficient, integrated and sustainable passenger mobility, but also showed how an initial project idea can lead to concrete implementation.
During the event, the project partners took the opportunity to present one of the most important documents developed throughout the project and a key reference for the implementation of more targeted actions, entitled “Strategic Roadmap – The Framework of Innovative Intermodal Connections Between Ports and the Hinterland”. The document brings together the experience gained through the activities implemented in Venice, Brindisi, Pula and Dubrovnik and provides a common framework for strengthening intermodal passenger transport. In particular, the Strategic Roadmap illustrates how the operational and technological solutions tested through CROSSCONNECT can support more efficient connections between ports, airports, city centres and public transport networks. It also provides a basis for transferring and adapting the project approach to other Adriatic territories, while supporting future investments, cooperation initiatives and governance models for sustainable and integrated mobility.
Moreover, another highly significant moment was the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding for the capitalization of CROSSCONNECT project by the partners, which represents an important step towards ensuring the long-term sustainability and transferability of the project results. It significantly strengthens cooperation among ports, airports and urban transport providers to promote more efficient, accessible and environmentally sustainable passenger mobility across the Adriatic area.
By formalising their shared commitment to a common objective, the partners are therefore continuing their work to complete the activities being implemented in Venice, Brindisi, Pula and Dubrovnik:
In Venice, the North Adriatic Sea Port Authority and SAVE worked together on the Fly & Cruise pilot, introducing organisational, technological and operational solutions to simplify the transfer of cruise passengers and their luggage between the airport and the port.
In Brindisi, the Southern Adriatic Sea Port Authority and STP Brindisi developed solutions to improve connectivity between the port, the city centre and the main transport hubs.
In Pula, the Regional Port Authority of Pula and Pulapromet focused on strengthening sustainable connections between the port, the main bus and railway stations, the city centre and the hospital.
In Dubrovnik, Dubrovnik Airport and the Dubrovnik Port Authority developed a shared ICT tool integrating airport, port and public transport information.
