CROSSCONNECT Pilot Action Successfully Tested in Venice

28/04/2026

The CROSSCONNECT pilot action connecting the Port of Venice and Venice Marco Polo
Airport has been successfully tested on 26 April 2026, marking a significant step forward in
improving intermodal passenger transport.

The “Fly&Cruise” service is designed to facilitate the transfer of cruise passengers
travelling on scheduled flights, making procedures between cruise terminals and the
airport faster and more efficient.

Thanks to the support of the CROSSCONNECT project and the cooperation between the
Port System Authority of the Northern Adriatic Sea and SAVE S.p.A., new check-in desks,
updated information systems, and advanced screening and security technologies have
been installed. Indeed, the service allows passengers to check in and drop off their
luggage either at the cruise terminal or directly at the airport, simplifying the overall travel
experience.

This successful pilot test represents an important milestone for the project and opens the
way for potential future developments, contributing to more integrated and sustainable
mobility solutions in the Adriatic-Ionian area.
