CROSSCONNECT presented at Round Table on Intermodality in Dubrovnik-Neretva County
23/12/2025
On 17 December 2025, the CROSSCONNECT project was presented during the round table “Intermodality of Maritime Transport in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County – Benefits, Challenges, and Potential”, organised as part of the CYROS project and hosted online by the Administrative Department for Entrepreneurship, Tourism and the Sea of Dubrovnik-Neretva County.
The event brought together local and regional stakeholders to explore how different modes of transport—especially maritime, road, and public transport—can be better integrated to create safer, more efficient, and sustainable mobility systems across the county. Special attention was given to the inclusion of cyclists in intermodal travel chains and the role of ports and airports in supporting seamless connections.
As part of the programme, Dubrovnik Airport and the Dubrovnik Port Authority, both partners of the CROSSCONNECT project, jointly presented their work and pilot activities aimed at improving connectivity between the port and the airport in Dubrovnik. The presentation highlighted several key innovations:
- The purchase and use of electric vehicles, including an electric baggage tractor and e-bikes at the airport, and an electric transport vehicle for passengers with reduced mobility at the port;
- The development of a customised passenger application, which provides real-time information on flight schedules, road traffic between the airport and port, and wayfinding tools for travellers;
- The broader impact of these actions in enhancing accessibility, sustainability, and the user experience for passengers arriving by sea or air.
The CROSSCONNECT presentation was part of a wider agenda that also featured the introduction of the CYROS project and discussions on the current state and future potential of intermodal transport in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County.
CROSSCONNECT’s participation in this event reflects its ongoing effort to align with regional strategies and ensure that its results contribute to long-term improvements in transport policy and practice. Events like these offer valuable opportunities for cross-project dialogue, stakeholder engagement, and the capitalisation of EU-funded solutions at local and regional levels.
The project team thanks CYROS and Dubrovnik-Neretva County for the invitation and looks forward to continued cooperation in building more connected, inclusive, and sustainable mobility systems in the Adriatic region.
