As one of the main activities of CLASS 4.0, on December 7th 2022 the University of Trieste, in cooperation with the Lead Partner t2i - trasferimento tecnologico e innovazione, will host a cross-border Hackathon at the Contamination Lab (ex Ospedale Militare, Trieste).

Experts, University students, policy makers and stakeholders, small-medium enterprises and Lead Partners from previous cross-border projects will be involved to cooperate and identify the overall needs and expectations in order to address the priorities of the EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region (EUSAIR). The Hackathon will be based on the Design and Future Thinking Methodology to help identify the strategic priorities for the policy agenda and the most favourable scenarios for sustainable project ideas, in order to ensure quality results and objective outputs.

The participating students, belonging to either the Bachelor Degree course in Business Administration and Management or the Master Degree course in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering of the University of Trieste, will receive preliminary information regarding the structure and the methodology of the Hackathon, the four pillars of the EUSAIR Flagship (Blue Growth, Connecting the Region, Environmental Quality, and Sustainable Tourism), projects presented during former programming periods, and the expected outputs.

A flagship paper will gather innovative business models, exploitation’s plans and the discussion’s results collected through videos, questionnaires and interviews to the participants. As the ultimate scope of the Hackathon, the industrial needs of the invited stakeholders will be compared with the technological and business solutions presented, in order to elaborate potential project ideas for the 21-27 programming period.
