Kaštela Bay and Jadro River are suffering from a series of problems related to climate change such as saltwater intrusion and increased episodes of drought alternating with particularly severe flood events. Generally during the summer months, nearly 50% of the water flow of the Jadro River is used for water supply needs and the intensity of urbanization poses a threat to the environmental quality status. For these reasons, there is an urgent need to activate a discussion with all interested categories in order to protect both the ecosystems and the economic activities established in the area.
