The participative process of CHANGE WE CARE project for the Banco della Mula di Muggia pilot site gets under way

The first workshop of the participatory process of the CHANGE WE CARE project for the Banco della Mula pilot site will take place by February 2021. It will be focused on sharing the intervention priorities of  this coastal area, off the mouth of the river Isonzo, presenting a system of sandy bars covered in its inner part by a wide seagrass meadow, an important nursery and feeding site for many marine species, which is now suffering Climate Change related alterations.

The Geological Service of the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Partner of the #CHANGEWECARE project, in collaboration with the Department of Mathematics and Geosciences of the University of Trieste, has prepared an online questionnaire:

to collect information on stakeholder perception of the eco-systemic services and the climate change related issues of the Banco della Mula di Muggia pilot site, in view of the next participatory process workshops planned for the next months.


Based on the information gathered on the state and the current trends of Banco di Mula di Muggia’  ecosystemic and socio-economic aspects and the climate change scenarios affecting the area, the project team intends to undertake a stakeholder involvement process, in order to share adaptation and mitigation strategies able to balance between the tourism development and protection of this natural area.
